Diving
Swim with the dolphins or snorkel through the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean. Divers can enjoy lively reefs and shipwrecks or stop by the nearby UNEXSO center (Underwater Explorers Society) for special packages like the world-famous "Shark dive". UNEXSO Tel: (242) 373-1244 Fax: (242) 373-8956 Considered to be one of the finest diving facilities in the Caribbean. The underwater explorer society is conveniently located within a 4-minute walk of the hotel. UNEXSO offers dive courses for novices as well as complete certification, shark dives, wreck dives, and a unique open-release dolphin swim program.
Fishing
The warm tropical waters surrounding the island are home to some of the best game fish on Earth. Among the well honored fighters lurking offshore are white and blue marlin, yellowfin and bluefin tuna, barracuda, king fish, wahoo, bonito, dolphin and one of the world's best game fish – the bonefish. There's great fishing during the winter months but the best time to go fishing in The Bahamas is between April and September.
Boating
The Bahama Islands, although considered part of the Caribbean, are actually located in the warm turquoise waters of the Atlantic. The Port Lucaya Resort & Yacht Club is surrounded on three sides by the Port Lucaya Marina which can accommodate boats of up to 175 feet with complete yacht facilities including water, fuel, electricity, cable T.V. and telephone. There is an annual Grand Bahama Sailing Regatta for boating enthusiasts and those who appreciate magnificent native sloops. In addition to trophies and cash prizes, the most sought after prize is the reputation of being a "champion of the seas".
